Welcome to Criminology

Sociology - Crime Scene Tape

The WJEC Diploma in Criminology is due to start in September 2019, subject to sufficient interest.

Criminology would be studied alongside other A Level subjects. It works particularly well with A Level Sociology, Psychology and Law.

What is Criminology?

Criminology is the study of crime and criminals. Criminologists look at a wide range of topics related to crime including the causes of crime and its social impact. The field of criminology blends sociology, psychology and criminal justice.
The WJEC Diploma in Criminology will enable you to learn about different types of crime, public awareness of crime, how crime is measured and why people commit crime. It also explores the criminal justice system and the effectiveness of measures used to prevent, manage and control criminal behaviour.
