Key Stage 3 - Science

All pupils receive six hours of science teaching each fortnight in years 7, 8 and 7 hours in year 9.
In years 7 and 8 this is usually taught by one teacher in mixed ability form groups.  For year 9 they will have a combination of teachers who will start to deliver the GCSE curriculum to them.

We use the Exploring Science resources, which include many differentiated activities. As well as subject content that is accessible by all students and will extend the most able, there is an emphasis on the skills needed in the modern scientific world.

For assessment, we use end of topic and year tests and common assessed tasks, enabling us to monitor the progress of the student in both subject knowledge and skills.
