 Key Stage 3 Science

All pupils study a common scheme of work, which follows the national curriculum. A variety of different teaching techniques are used allowing pupils to participate in practical work, discussions on topical issues and to experience all three subjects that make up  the science curriculum (biology, chemistry and physics).

Science - world in our hands

 Key Stage 4 Science

All pupils follow a GCSE Science course within the school, taught by subject specialist teachers. There are two paths which are followed, either double award science or biology, chemistry and physics. The curriculum builds upon the work done in Key Stage 3, developing the understanding of the students and extending their practical skills.

Science - DNA

From investigating the effects of caffeine on heart rate or the antimicrobial properties in plants to conducting some of the techniques used in forensics. Biology offers an active exploration of the many exciting aspects of Science that have furthered our understanding of life on Earth.

Science - reaction of ammonia with oxygen

Chemistry is the use of chemical knowledge to explain how the world around us works.  Ever thought of a piece of fruit as a complex chemical factory?  What about drug design, synthesis and analysis?  The joy of the subject is finding out answers to such questions.  Go on and explore!

Science - lightening1

Physics is a well established subject, where numbers have grown steadily. The course followed looks at how physics is used in both traditional and up-to-date subject matter. Practical work is still a very important part of this course allowing students to learn through experience.
